Get PandaReader
PandaReader is distributed as a signed APK from GitHub. It is not on the Play Store. Updates install over the top and keep your servers, settings, progress and highlights, with one exception: 1.7.2 changed the package name to io.pandareader, so it installs beside a 1.7.1-or-older copy instead of updating it (see the FAQ).

Install or update
- Download the APK on the phone, or copy it over from a computer.
- Open it. The first time, Android asks you to allow installs from the browser or file manager you used. Allow it once; the setting is per app.
- Tap Install. Updating is the same: install the newer APK over the existing app and everything is kept.
- Add a server from the Servers screen. The getting-started guide takes it from there.
Requirements
- Android 10 or newer (targets Android 16).
- About 90 MB for the app plus whatever you choose to sync.
- A library on WebDAV, FTP, SFTP, NFS, SMB, a local folder, or Calibre on the same network.
Verify the file
GitHub records a SHA-256 digest for every asset, shown above when the live data loads. On Windows:
Get-FileHash .\PandaReader-1.7.3.apk -Algorithm SHA256
Switching from a debug build
Public releases are signed with the project's release key. If a phone has an older developer (debug-signed) build installed, Android refuses the update because the signature differs. Uninstall the old build first, then install the public APK. Server settings and progress on that phone are lost in the process, so export what you need before switching.
Source code
The app's source repository is private. The public PandaReader-releases repository holds every published APK with its release notes, and the How it works page describes the design in detail.
